More pics of Omaha Zoo

Polar Bear

This white tiger kept smiling and showing us his pearly whites

Not quite sure what this monkey was trying to prove...but it was impressive!

I think this means he is the king penguin?

This pic, mom thinksthe monkey is trying to tan those spots that just don't tan well....

Addy loved these birdies

We're going to the zoo!

Henry Doorly Zoo
Omaha, Nebraska

This weekend, Grandma MK made a trip to Omaha to visit us. She heard all about how difficult it was for me to drop Addy at daycare for the first time on Friday, and thought we all needed a fun weekend. Addy did "ok" at daycare, but when I picked her up, she was sitting in the corner by herself crying. Supposedly, she woke up from her nap and wasn't sure what was going on. That got Grandma right in the heart; so she decided to head to Omaha. We had a great time; the best time of the weekend was on Sunday morning, we hit the Omaha Zoo. It was even better than I had remembered. And given Addy's love for animals, we knew she would love it!
She did very well. Although, after Friday's episode with daycare, she hasn't slept well and has been overtired. She got very tired half way through, but finished the tour before lunch. The weather was beautiful for a trip to the zoo. Actually, early morning we needed jackets! Can you believe it? We ended up taking a trip on the new skyfari, which takes you above the zoo. Addy's favorite exhibit was probably the aquarium or the cat complex with the tigers. She got a kick out of the penguins!
After the zoo, we hit Quaker Steak and Lube, which to those whom haven't been there, you need to go. It was wonderful. We ate at this restaurant every time we went to visit the Hough's in Erie, PA and we just found out that one had opened in Council Bluffs. Josie is thrilled! Overall, thanks G'ma for the wonderful weekend. After Friday, the honestly worst day of my life, the weekend was needed. We had a blast as a family and couldn't thank you enough! Enjoy our pics from the zoo!

Addy pics

I just needed to post these pics: yep, just random pics of Addison at the new place. Grandma MK got her a new green dress and she loves to dress up in it and twirl. And another pic is showing you how comfortable she looks in her new bed in her new home and I also put a pic on of what she loves to do after her bath, just like daddy (he he). I just had to show these to you all.....

Progress on the potty

Addy has gone from loving her tinkerbell potty but not wanting to sit on it to sitting on it! I suppose this is a great leap in the right direction. I caught her in the act of duking today and asked her if she wanted to sit on the potty. She said yes, so on we went. We read her Elmo book on the potty while she smiled and loved every minute of it. I know it is only the beginning, but I guess this is better than no progress?

Father's Day

We headed to the park for Father's Day. It was super hot on Sunday....but we walked and found a great park for Addy. We also went up to the pool, but we didn't get any pics. She is becoming quite the little fish! She wasn't crazy about pools and swimming, but she is becoming fearless and loves to be in the water. We have enjoyed our time off with Addy, but it will all be coming to an end soon as I start work on Wednesday and Adam will be slowly getting going with some orientations and courses this week. We will keep you all posted.......

Trip to Fraser, CO

Adam and I had a great time in Colorado! We left at 4:10 in the morning....thanks for getting up early g'pa Frank! We flew out of Omaha and got to the Denver airport and waited for my family to arrive. We then headed on the road to a town called Fraser. It is next door to Winter Park which is famous for their ski slopes. But their golf courses are amazing too! As you can see from the pics, the views were breath taking! It was supposed to rain all day Saturday, but my cousin Scott kept the rain away until we were done with the tournament. Jack, Jen, Jos and Jas finished third and Adam, Mom, Dad and I finished fourth. Not bad for not being a golfer. More importantly, we got to see my family from Colorado for the weekend. We were fortunate to have g'ma and g'pa Burdorf at home with Addy for the weekend. There couldn't be anything worse than having your child at home with someone you don't trust. They did a great job and we greatly appreciate your help with Addy. You will also see a picture of a German-American restaraunt that we will be eating at every year! It is the most amazing food you will ever taste....even better when you are german yourself. The staff was amazing....you will see them in the pic as well.

Here are the boys before our round on Friday.

Here are the gals before the round on Friday.
Here is the group at the German-American restaraunt.

Burdorf's adjusting well in Omaha

What a change going from small town Iowa to big city Nebraska. You cannot believe all the husker crap around here. More importantly, we got moved this past weekend and we are adjusting well. Adam and I both have this week off so we are working hard to find a home for everything. After getting all of our stuff in here we determined it is soooo small! We can't wait to find a home. For those whom are wondering, our address is:
15802 Larimore Plaza #30
Omaha, NE 68116
We are only here for 3 months....we thought this would allow us enough time to find a nice home in a great area. We can get more of a feel of Omaha and where we would like to live. I have to admit, I missed TARGET! We are lucky to have 2 Targets within 5 miles of us!
Addy meets her new daycare director tomorrow....I am so nervous! I can't believe we are going to save $95 per week by taking her to Fremont, NE which is where I will be working. Daycare in Omaha is just outrageous! But, what do you do?
So, we are settled, all is well, and more importantly, Addy is doing well. She is still sleeping in her big girl bed and has been sleeping until 9:00AM! What a gal!

Happy Anniversary

Adam and I escaped to Mankato and ate at the Olive Garden to celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary.....I can't believe it has been 4 years already. We enjoyed a huge dinner and a walk through Target (a must when around one!) We finished the night off with a dessert coffee at Starbucks then hurried home to see Fergie. She did great for grandma and grandpa; especially continuing to go to bed in her big girl bed!
We are slowly getting ready for our big transition to Omaha. We will be loading the truck on the 13th and starting a new in Omaha. I will begin my work on Thursday, June 18th as Adam will begin July 1st. We are fortunate to be able to escape to Denver, CO for a weekend on the 19th with my family. We will be golfing in my cousin Scott Polzin's Memorial Golf Tournament. It will be nice to get away before Adam's life gets crazy with residency.
